AI–Human Coordination for Net-Zero Logistics Transition

With the support of the Taiwan-UK University Consortium as well as project partners such as the National Edge Artificial Intelligence Hub, Dr Lu, Dr Hao and Prof Papagiannidis are about to embark on a new international collaboration with National Taiwan University, exploring emerging challenges in the transition towards low carbon logistics systems. The initiative brings together expertise across energy, supply chains, and digital technologies, focusing on how increasingly complex systems can be better coordinated as countries move towards net zero targets. Both the UK and Taiwan face similar pressures, where advances in electrification and renewable energy are progressing longside persistent uncertainties in infrastructure, policy, and operations. The project is expected to examine how data driven tools and human decision making can be combined to navigate these challenges, particularly in contexts where timing, investment, and regulatory alignment remain difficult to predict. While still in its early stages, the collaboration aims to contribute to ongoing discussions around sustainable supply chains and the role of digital technologies in supporting more adaptive and resilient logistics systems.
