Parliament Meeting – Cybersecurity and Resilience Bill

The National Edge AI Hub was honoured to lead a roundtable discussion at the UK Parliament on the forthcoming Cybersecurity and Resilience Bill, an essential development in strengthening the United Kingdom’s digital infrastructure and safeguarding the technologies that underpin innovation at the edge. This meeting was co-sponsored by House of Commons Research Hubs (Science, Digital & Technology; International Affairs & National Security; Home Affairs, Equalities & Justice) and POST. Held on March 18, 2026, in Portcullis House, the event convened 20 experts from academia, industry, and Parliament (including Hub Director Prof. Rajiv Ranjan) to debate AI deployment challenges, digital sovereignty, and the Cyber Security and Resilience Bill’s implications for innovation. This participation positions the Hub to directly inform forthcoming parliamentary legislation, bridging cutting-edge edge AI research with practical policy solutions for UK competitiveness and security.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our hosts and the Parliamentary team Varuna De Silva, Routh Lamont, Leslie Anne for the opportunity to contribute to this important national dialogue.

Our thanks also go to Christopher Day, Vice-Chancellor and President Newcastle University, for opening the session and to the academic experts and  to our distinguished panel of academics, Rajiv R., Carsten Maple, Professor Dhaval Thakker, Jennifer Williams, PhD, and Shishir Nagaraja and Savvas Papagiannidis, whose insights and expertise enriched the discussion significantly.

The National Edge AI Hub remains committed to working collaboratively across government, industry, and academia to advance secure and resilient AI innovation that supports the UK’s technological and economic ambitions.

A big thank you to Hub Manager Gaurav Kaushik for organising such a great event, together with colleagues from Parliament.
